In Oregon, the<br \/>\nmarketplace is called Cover Oregon, and in Washington, it is called Washington<br \/>\nHealthplanfinder.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-left: 0; color: #000; font-family: Palatino, serif;\">The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires all employers who are subject to the<br \/>\nFair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to notify their employees by October 1, 2013<br \/>\nof the existence of these marketplaces and to provide information regarding<br \/>\ncoverage options.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-left: 0; color: #000; font-family: Palatino, serif;\">As part of providing this notification, employers will need to indicate if<br \/>\ntheir health coverage meets the minimum value standard set by the ACA. Most<br \/>\ncarriers have conducted this minimum value analysis on the plans for all groups<br \/>\nfor which they provide health benefits coverage. Below is a summary of the changes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-left: 0; color: #000; font-family: Palatino, serif;\">Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), all health insurance companies are required<br \/>\nto update health insurance plans to include specific benefits for people who<br \/>\nbuy their own insurance.\u00a0 To meet those requirements, carriers have developed<br \/>\nnew health insurance plans to replace their current plans effective in 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: italic; color: #e0601f; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 8px; text-transform: lowercase; font-family: Palatino, serif; font-weight: bold; line-height: 20px;\">What does this mean?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-left: 0; color: #000; font-family: Palatino, serif;\">Individuals and families will have new choices.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can do nothing and most carriers will move you to a new ACA compliant<br \/>\nplan either effective 1\/1\/14 or by the end of the open enrollment period,<br \/>\nMarch 31, 2014.<\/li>\n<li>You can select a different ACA compliant plan with the same carrier or<br \/>\na new carrier.<\/li>\n<li>If you qualify for a subsidy and \/or tax credit based on your income (Example:<br \/>\nhouseholds who earn less than $45,960 for an individual and less than $94,200<br \/>\nfor a family of 4), you may want to consider purchasing your health insurance<br \/>\non Cover Oregon, Oregon\u2019s new health insurance exchange.\u00a0 The 2014 open<br \/>\nenrollment period begins October 1, 2013 and ends March 31, 2014.\u00a0 DDI<br \/>\nis an affiliated producer with Cover Oregon, contact us to see if you qualify.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: italic; color: #e0601f; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 8px; text-transform: lowercase; font-family: Palatino, serif; font-weight: bold; line-height: 20px;\">What happens if you don\u2019t have coverage?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px; margin-top: 8px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-left: 0; color: #000; font-family: Palatino, serif;\">Beginning in 2014 all Americans will be required to get health insurance. All health<br \/>\nplans will be guaranteed issue, meaning you can\u2019t be declined coverage and<br \/>\npre-existing conditions will be covered.
