My 19-year-old daughter, Grace, asked me recently “what on earth is there to talk about at DDI that you need to all meet every single Thursday morning?!” I responded, “well we do more than just work through our agenda items, we talk it out!” We like to keep it real at DDI and start our busy weekly meetings with sharing an inspirational quote or reflection and then a roundtable of our ups and downs for the week, whether personal or professional.
While talking about emotional health in the workplace used to be considered taboo, more and more employers are realizing that mental health issues are becoming a leading driver of health care costs and decreased workplace productivity, and we need be able to bring our whole selves to work.
Now that’s a benefit!
