The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. Be sure that your Plan Document (also referred to as your WRAP Plan Document) is updated with this new Act. If DDI Benefits creates and updates your Plan Document, you will be receiving an updated document by mid-June.
The new law mainly applies to employers with fewer than 500 employees, that may be subject to new paid leave requirements. The FFCRA provides eligible employees with expanded family and medical leave and paid sick leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These new leave requirements began on April 1, 2020, and end on December 31, 2020. If employees take expanded family and medical leave or paid sick leave under the FFCRA, their group health benefits will continue on the same terms as if they did not take leave. Additional family and medical leave or sick leave rights may apply under state law.
