If your Providence Medicare Advantage plan is ending December 31, 2026, you’ll need to choose a new plan for 2027. We have good news: you’ll have another Medicare Advantage option to consider, plus the opportunity to look at a Medicare Supplement plan paired with a stand-alone prescription drug plan — giving you more than one good path forward.
Now is the time to get your appointment on the calendar.
Here’s what’s ahead, and why scheduling early matters:
- Right now: We can get you scheduled and take care of the required paperwork — a standard Medicare form called a Scope of Appointment — so you’re all set and ready to go.
- October 1: Medicare rules allow us to begin discussing specific 2027 plan options and benefits with you.
- October 15 – December 7: The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, when you’ll choose and enroll in your new plan.
- Through December 31: Because Providence is ending this coverage, Medicare gives you extra time — a Special Election Period — so you can still enroll after December 7 if needed.
- January 1, 2027: Your new coverage begins
Providence’s doctors and hospitals are still finalizing which 2027 plans they’ll contract with (one organization has already confirmed), and we’ll share those details with you as soon as we’re able, on or after October 1. You don’t need to wait for that news to get your appointment scheduled — in fact, the sooner we hear from you, the more choices you’ll have for a day and time that works well for you.

What is the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?
Original Medicare lets you see any provider that accepts Medicare, but it may not cover all your healthcare costs or services. Adding a supplemental plan may help cover additional costs. You can also add a Part D prescription drug plan.
Medicare Advantage plans provide Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance) coverage, and most include Part D (prescription drug coverage). Plans may offer extra benefits, such as vision, hearing, dental or wellness programs. You may be required you to use a contracted provider network in your area. When choosing a plan, make sure your doctor is considered in-network (contracted).
